FIFPro calls for intervention amid bribery scandal

FIFPro says FIFA should be "very shamed" as the world players' union demands change after more officials were engulfed in the corruption scandal.

It was another dark day for football in Zurich on Thursday following the arrests of CONCACAF and CONMEBOL presidents Alfredo Hawit and Juan Angel Napou on the suspicion of accepting bribes worth millions of dollars.

United States officials also charged 16 more individuals, including Brazilian Football Federation president Marco Polo del Nero, as part of an investigation into corruption within world football's governing body.

And FIFPro, which represents at least 65,000 professional players, used Twitter to vent its frustration, writing: "Be ashamed. Very ashamed.

"The administration of football continues to let players, clubs and fans down.

"The game needs an intervention."
